Two posters from Beer

It don't mean a thing etc. is featured on the video from Sidmouth that is part of the first batch for YouTube from ExeterTV

Exeter Television finds base camp on YouTube

Jo Gedrych has been accepted with director status on YouTube so can load video lasting longer than ten minutes. The example of a garage band will not be of much interest for fans of classical music.

However, on the site for the Sound Gallery is a link to Virtual Vincenzo where there is a digital equivalent for a harpschord and other early instruments. It is not clear how this will translate as online video but if you are interested, drop by Life Bytes on Sidwell Street opposite the Odeon. Struggle past the amps and guitars to find the classic video edit suite towards the back.

Exeter Autumn Festival

A lot of the autumn festival has already happened. The idea seems to be to offer more space for local performers, not just visiting names as in the summer. By the way, Georgie Fame is at the Phoenix later this month but this is just normal. Not part of a festival or anything.

Thursday at the Maynard School , starts 7.30.

YouTube test

Trying out YouTube. If this works, other links could be added.

Henryk Szeryng plays Tzigane by Ravel

Over 6,000 views on this one, so it is probably ok. That's blog logic for you.

Introduction

This is an experiment to find out if a blog format would work for a classical music audience roughly in range of Exeter, UK. It would depend on other people posting info on what is happening. My own interest is mostly in soul and pop so there won't be much useful comment to start with. By the way the Vibraphonic site needs an update, I think. Still in 2006 on a recent check.

I did arrange an event a few years ago for my cousin Sara Trickey at the Music Room at Exeter Central Library. The idea for this blog came about as part of a discussion on a day trip to Cardiff in January to listen to a lunchtime recital. Maybe there are other events closer to Exeter that we just don't know about.

So please add a comment or request to be added for posting. Or let me know if something else already exists.
